Building Societal Resilience to Changing Weather, Climate, Oceans and Environment
The 54th CMOS Congress will be held in Ottawa, the nation’s capital, in 2020.
It will highlight to policymakers the national observations, research and services that contribute substantively to reducing the risks of extreme weather, climate and environmental events.
In addition, the Congress will outline the challenges of managing our Future Earth environment nationally and globally. Cross-disciplinary dialogue will be fostered among research and managerial professionals in meteorology, oceanography, hydrology, earth sciences, environment and social science.
Special sessions will be held on using weather, climate and environmental observations and forecasts for risk reduction; on protecting Canada’s vast Arctic and sub-Arctic; and on strengthening cooperation to reduce risks to agriculture and other sectors as weather, climate and environment all change.
